Permission to Copy

Hello from the States. How can we get permission to copy plans from previous issues to share with other modelers here in the States? A lot of us would like to build a model of Brian Perkins' VW Boxer Model published in 2005. First are the plans copyrighted? If so, where do we go to get permission?

To copy from the magazine you would need permission from Mytimemedia. You may be able to contact Brian and see if he is able to offer plans for which he will hold the copyright to the originals.

Or you could all buy a digital subscription and access the plans that way. If you were in the UK then backissues would be easier and cheaper to buy at a pound or two per volume.

Brian Perkins' VW was published as a construction series in Strictly IC Magazine (USA), Robert Washburn's excellent mag. Sadly, I believe that both gentlemen are no longer with us.

Unfortunately that would seem not to be an option as it looks like he died a little while ago, assuming this post refers to the same chap,

The copyright in the plans now belongs to his estate, presumably his family.

Copies may be available through Sarik Hobbies even if not listed on their website.
