      All

i have a Pallas HO milling machine with a vertical milling head. The taper seems to be MT3 (unless im mistaken but my MT3 collet holder wont fit into it due to the rectangular hole on the face being smaller than the body of my collet holder does anyone have any ideas ???getfileattachment.jpg

Could you mill out the rectangular hole a bit wider on the narrowest side perhaps . Nice mill .

Is it not the rectangular recess that provides drive ? Similar to an INT arrangement. Could be wrong but would guess that your toolholder should have flats that fit in the recess.

The rectangular parts turns when the shaft turns. I may have to have my holder milled down

                Does it use a drawbar?

Hi Dan – I have a Pallas mill which is 4MT but also has the rectangular recess which matches all the tooling I have with it. Some photos of the mill in my album from a couple of years back. The torque to the tooling is via a combination of the friction of the taper and draw bar and the recess. Certainly when I am doing heavy cuts with the horizontal arbour on my machine the recess is closed up and helping drive the tool. Some of the tooling I inherited with the machine was made recently with the rectangular drive element so I would try and maintain this feature.Horizontal arbours

I used an SIP jig borer which had the same taper and square perhaps if you look for that it may help.
