I am about to restore my Myford ML7, I reside in New Zealand so getting paint freighted from UK suppliers is a problem. Industrial , marine and automotive products are readily available. I am seeking advice on which type, cellulose, synthetic enamel or two pack epoxy would best stand up to wear and oils encountered in a home workshop.

          Hi,

I have restored a number of machine tools and use standard enamel paints which thin down with white spirit.

I always brush paint rather than spray, with plenty of between coats fine wet and dry to get the finish lovely and flat.

I have used Teamac paints from the uk but there must be an equivalent type in NZ, it is badged as machinery enamel but is no different from ordinary enamel paints and I have had no issues with oil damaging the finish at all.

          Hope this helps T
