Probably computer controlled packing, Chain Reaction Cycles are like this.

Its it's annoying when something that could have fitted through your letterbox doesn't, then you have to make a special trip to the collection depot.

I sell on eBay and get through quite a few boxes and lots of packing materials all bought in bulk.

That box and packing would have cost less than 20p.

I agree though that it was not well packed.

          Sam Stones:

Caveat venditor, too! IIRC, some years ago a well-known skin cream manufacturer was successfully prosecuted for falsely over-stating the quantity of their product; the misrepresentation lay in the oversize container with the empty compartment in the bottom.

And of course there's this stuff. 3g is printed on the tubes.

However, after squeezing the air out, the tube was almost empty as were the other seven tubes in the pack.

Can't complain really. It was only $2 for the packet of eight.

            Super glue

I think the air is there for a purpose, SuperGlue is an anaerobic adhesive e.g. it sets in the absence of air. If you squeeze all the air out it will probably set. Loctite is similar hence the space in the pot.

                Hi Bob,

                Thanks for your observations.

There is often confusion between super glue (cyanoacrylate [CA]) and Loctite.

The main difference between the two types is in the medium activating the bonding reaction.

In the thread locking glue, polymerisation starts in the absence of oxygen (anaerobic), while CA bonds with the aid of humidity.

My capercaillie is that the tube contents are stated as 3g (3 grams), yet there is less than 1g in the tubes.

                Regards,

                Sam
