      Re Couriers. Had a delivery from DPDIreland today. Supplier had sent me an acknowledgement of my order then a few hours later confirmation of despatch and the tracking number which is the way to do it.
      Then this morning, predicted delivery day, I get a text advising intention to deliver giving a 1 hour slot and link to website if that's a problem. I check my neighbour is in and go to website which is very easy to divert the delivery next door. Seconds later they text confirmation of the change.
      Five minutes after start of delivery slot I get a text to confirm it has been delivered including the name of my neighbour which they wouldn't have known unless they actually spoke to her.

      Now that's how to run a mail order and delivery system. It's not hard to do it right

      Unfortunately my employer uses Yodel.

        Bazyle, I regularly order dog food, 2x15Kg sacks from Thirsk, (I think that's somewhere north of Birmingham…) and they are sent by DPD to SW France, tracked all the way, delivery notification with website to re-arrange delivery and I second you in saluting DPD's service, it's good to see a company get it right.

          They are also big mates with our postie.

          They know who it is the other side of the door, if it's a stranger they go ape!

            I just had some outstanding service from Metrology and Quality Services – **LINK**

            I bought a few bits from them almost a year ago, including a set of adjustable parallels. I had used a couple but not all of them until this week, the biggest one could not be locked as the fit was a bit sloppy.

            Emailed them at approx 5pm tuesday, got a reply at 7.47am the next morning (!!!) picked up by courier the same day, received working replacement this morning.

            No affiliation, but very happy – I wasn't really expecting a particularly positive response but couldn't have asked for more than this.

              During the past twelve months I have had excellent advice and service from Chester (Thank you Tony). Great service and help from Arc (Thanks chaps) and RDG, Tracy tools and Chronos, all excellent but now I contact any supplier before ordering anything and try to get an agreement that DPD will be the courier, they knock other couriers out of the running by a fair margin, not only great communications, they will re-direct delivery to suit your needs, fantastic service.

              I have no association with any of the companies mentioned above other than being very happy with prices and quality.

                Minus one for Chester. My brother bought a mill from them and he found it damaged when he uncrated it. No way they couldn’t have seen it. They then proceeded to send him a pile of scrap as replacement parts.

                He sent the lot back and they then took their time refunding him.

                I have no association with them apart from being the relative of a completely hacked off customer who will never use them again.

                  Chronos replaced an item FOC to me that was "lost in post". It was a low cost item. The original item turned up and they just said keep it. Very good service and very friendly and helpful
