Having had some useful hints in the Jpeg topic I wonder if anyone has some ideas about organising URLs. NOT the usual browser list.

Ideally I think I’d like a start page that has a say 5×5 matrix of the 25 sites I most want to visit that are big targets to click on, not microscopic points in a list. An easy way of filling the 25 boxes and would be nice, and not half a gigabyte of javascript with silly colours for five yr olds.
Explorer shows me the few recent most used ones but every now and then they mess with the format and things also change order etc. I guess I could write some HTML but perhaps it has already been done.

Taking the HTML route, there are a number of Table Generators on the web.  I tried this one, a little fiddly at first, this crude first attempt took a few minutes.

The generator writes the HTML needed to display the table.  The HTML can be saved as a local file on your computer: no need for a website unless something clever is needed.  I saved my example in /home/dave/demo.html, for which the browser URL is file:///home/dave/demo.html.   The URL on Windows is similar, but needs the drive.

Just swap to Firefox, that feature comes as standard.

Thanks Dave, I’ll give that a go.
