Just spotted this and thought I'd share a pic.

This is what happens when you are in a hurry to get rid of some material and forget to change to a carbide tip.

It would have helped if I'd made a better job of grinding the top as well… must have been in a REAL hurry!

Can a carbide tool of similar shape to yours be got for a tangential tool? Would it work?

Turn it through 180° and grind the facet the other way; doesn't waste so much material.

Hi Andrew,

A 180 degree turn would mean extra grinding, because the angling of the toolbit is about 10 degrees, the top needs to be ground at about 20 degrees (that one isn't really ground at enough of an angle).

Indeed, I may remake this (version 4…) with 12 degree clearance angles.
