      Hi All,

Just got back from Dukes Auction with this unusual Lot:

      gizmo 3

The burner item is from USA patented in 1901.

I initially thought that the two wooden items were locking gauge sticks but the collars are pinned in a fixed position so have no idea what they are for?

The weird telescoping item has me baffled totally so hoping you guys can help; no makers marks at all.

      gizmo 1gizmo 2

      Cheers, Martin

It’s for stretching old school milking machine teats onto a cows udders without causing damage.

I, guessing you pull the two bits of the wooden spindles apart and use them to grip a strip of cloth or paper?

Jon Lawes gets the non existent prize! Thank you so much! Certainly one of the oddest things we have ever had.

Neil, that kind of makes sense I guess, any other thoughts?

Its materials and construction do suggest something textiles-related as Neil suggests.

Possibly used in making certain garments, e.g. gloves, socks, sleeves. Or in leather-work?
