I know it's another learning curve but Onshape is ideal for simple solids like that and is really easy to learn. When extruding you are given the choice between solid and surface and there is an option to apply a draft angle.
Where it falls down is on speed for complex models like this Antikythera Mechanism . I used that as a test for exporting complex models from Solidworks to Onshape. It all works but is so slow as to be unusable, not surprisingly, when viewing the entire mechanism. Individual parts and sub-assemblies seem to be OK.
For me the big advantage is that it works on all platforms, not just Windows.
