I'm have another tidy up in the shed.

I have 6 off Ø8mm hardened rods, 16 1/2" long. They are left over from my old 3D printer. I only found out they were hard, after trying cut them down….

Can anyone suggest a use for these? Or are they any use to someone?

If you only need to machine one end, soften just the end first, or cut to length with a cutting disc and soften the whole piece – then its just like any other steel rod.

gotta to be better to use em as is than soften them….norm steel is cheap enough…..

Dowel pins. Guide pins for special tools etc. Put them away til you need them.

Definitely likely to come in useful.

These are usually well sized and can be used in pairs as accurate packing under things in a machine vice etc.

You could build up another 3D printer.

They are probably dead straight as well as hard, maybe useful as test bars.
