        Hi all

I'm new here, not strictly (or even vaguely) a model engineer, really – I am a technician in the cycle industry, working with very high end materials and components that we often need to make small prototype parts for or need to modify to suit very specific purposes, or make from scratch spare parts not offered by component manufacturers or discontinued.

Many operations that we do have a lot in common with operations that you do – small, accurate turning and milling jobs for example.

Hence, in the spirit of knowledge sharing, I've joined here as I have some questions that I think people here may know the answers to and I'm more than happy to share such knowledge as I have in return, of course … I am sure I must have learned something in 35 years of close involvement with high-precision engineering (although I accept most people don't think of bicycles in those terms!).

Welcome to the forum. You don't need to build model engines to fit in here.
