I'm hoping today, this will be the first of my new subscription! I've never subscribed to ME before, I feel like I've hit a milestone.

Well, 1st December and STILL no sign of 4652. The subscription dept has no spare copies so looks like I am going to miss this one. WHAT is the point of a subscription if when a copy goes missing they can't supply a replacement? Also no answer on their FB page to a message left, nor a repy from the Editor when I emailed……They really are NOT good at customer replations.

I had that a while back when mine went astray. You would have thought the subscription department would have access to any extras. What about all the ones that will be returned from newsagents. Sales must be very low at the moment.

And wasn't the editor having to appeal for recent back issues the other day and offering to buy them.

Yes, but they also siad in a previous issue how many old back issues they had – very strange! He hasn't replied to either of my emails, the Facebook page isn't monitored (obviusly), and the phone went to voicemail……Surely they print a few extras – OR could email the electronic copy. POOR customer service.

If you look at the recent 299 thread you will see that they don't tend to get the surplus copies for a few weeks as it takes a while for the returns from newsagents to filter back. There is also the problem of the company that sells the back issues not being the same as the one that handles subscriptions. Long gone are the days when it was all based in one building, the fact they are also probably working from home now would make it hard to know what's in stock.

Add in the fact that none of the Editors are full time employees so you can't really expect them to be able to offer a 24/7 e-mail response.

Dare I try to introduce some reason to those threatening to cancel their subscriptions, to reduce their blood pressure?

In UK, as in many other countries, people are working under lockdown, or near, conditions. Working from home, so lacking facilities and staff, but not from choice.

This probably applies all the way from the Editor's desk through MTM, and the entire distribution chain right down to the person who delivers the magazine to your mailbox.

These are not normal times, so normal service cannot be expected, in my view. And that does not mean that I condone, or tolerate bad or sloppy actions; far from it. Just suggesting that some reality may be a useful quality.
