Newbie here – Anyone used a Clarke CL430 or Cl500 for screw cutting?

As above I an a total newbie and have just aquired a Clarke CL500M lathe and milling machine. I am looking at cutting a 1mm thread on some 39mm aluminium but don’t really know where to start. I last used a lathe around 23 years ago and can’t see in the manual how to cut the threads.

 

Any advice would be much appreciated.

So there is someone else out there with a CL500. I have not yet used mine for screw cutting but there are three pages in the full manual which should get you started. My lathe did not have the full manual when purchased but I contacted Clarkes direct (by phone) and they down loaded it to me free of charge. The pages you require are 20-22. They are not particularly comprehensve but do include the gear change charts etc. Hope this helps.

Hi Chris, thanks for your reply. I’ll speak with Clarke tomorrow. How do you find your CL500? I am getting a milling vice soon and just trying to get a new bench finished.
