Newbie from South Shields

Hello all, just signed up because I’m missing the tools. Im a marine engineer by trade, and spent for the last 18 years back and forth at sea, but last year I came ashore for a desk job. And its come as a bit of a shock. I’m missing the hands on work, especially working on machine tools. So it’s time to make it a hobby. I have inherited an old lathe, a LeBlond Regal 13” which I’m undecided if to keep it or upgrade, and am looking for a milling machine. Then some inspiration for some projects. Tool making at first I think. Looking forward to the challenges and hopefully chatting on here for advice and inspiration. Scott

I'm a retired engineer too, currently residing on the north side of the tunnel…Being an active type is hard to give up….

Plenty of help and encouragement form folk on here..

Welcome Scott, you'll find lots of information on here and if you have any specific questions well, just ask and someone is bound to know the answer.

I'm definitely South of the tunnel, in Mansfield.

Cut 1" off one of the legs of your desk and the same for your chair and you'll feel right at home

I've seen your other thread, that's a fine lathe.
