High folk I'm a newbie to the forum and just started to tinker around with model engineering once again after many years break. One of the things I would like to know does anyone have drawings (even if just freehand) for the construction of a burner similar to the Saito BF2. Any help would be appreciated, even if only an explanation as to workings of that style of burner

Hi Bruce. Welcome to the forum. Where are you based. What is your main interest. What tools do you have. OK, we are a nosey lot on here smiley Plenty of answers to be found here, just ask if a search provides none.

          regards

Hi Bruce, welcome to the forum. Sorry can't answer your question myself, but forum members are knowledgable. Fingers crossed we have Saito expert in the house!

The Search box top-right is pretty useless – it only looks in post titles – but there's a better search box hidden halfway down the home page. It uses a full web search feature that can also be typed into your Browser's address bar that restricts the search to a particular website:

            eg

            saito site:model-engineer.co.uk

It appears my reply has somehow disappeared into electronic dust. In response, many thanks for the welcome. I live on the South Coast NSW Australia, which is one of those "god's waiting room" places for oldies like me. Basically when it comes to tinkering with live steam, mechanical clocks and watches and heaps of other things I just cant help myself. my "mancave" has metal working equipment including a lather and very small mill, a fifty litre all-grain pilot brewery so we have something to drink when not playing with all the toys, that also includes a lot of jewellery making and lapidary equipment.

I have come from an engineering background that includes aircraft, production, R&D, and through to owning an art gallery, just to make sure I have most bases covered.

Hi Bruce, welcome to the forum. I live a little bit further up the coast from you, in Sydney.

To answer your question, the time that someone answers your query varies. Only someone familiar with your question may answer and not everyone is on line at the same time. I don't know anything about a burner similar to the Saito BF2. My interests are steam traction engines, full size and models.

                    Cheers, Paul

You may be better off asking on our sister publication Model Boats forum

                      Also should that read B2F

Looks like it works much the same as the old paraffin blowlamps where the liquid is heated until it vaporizes

Agreed, it has to work on some preheating of the fuel and using some internal pressure as opposed to the old pump sytem
