Hi all, I have just been gifted a new workshop 6.3 x 3.3 m inside dimensions and want advice on which machines to put in there, It is as clean as a whistle and I don't want to mess it upi with grinders etc. so was going to put just mills and lathes in there. Anyone any views on what would be a good mix of machine tools.

The main shop will house the mucky stuff and fabrication but the new shop is for machining only.

      Regards T

First question – what do you intend to make/do in there? How big will your projects be? Will it be for small models or to repair/ renovate larger stuff? What is the workshop made from? Will it be heated and what sort of insulation does it have? Is the power supply 3-phase or single phase ?

If your intention is to build models a la Cherry Hill the answer will probably be a bit different from the one you would get if you intend to build a 71/4" loco or repair full sized traction engines!

          Regards
