Just in case anyone fancies building a 1/6th scale model tank from a British company Armortek are releasing two new models for 2025.
The King Tiger is a true beast of a fighting vehicle and in 1/6th scale is a truly huge model. It’s available for order now.
The next model is the British Challenger 2 MBT which will be released for orders on 6th February but won’t be ready for delivery till late in the year.
I’ve already put my name down for a Challenger as I prefer doing British kit rather than the more popular German machines. Reading about it, the Challenger was apparently being developed for Iran in the early 70’s,but when the Shah was deposed the British army had to take it on. It is due to be in service for another ten years and will become the longest serving tank in British military history.
These kits ain’t cheap, but they ain’t toys either. Lots of scope for modifications, detailing or outright go nuts and do something spectacular. One guy turned a Centurion tank kit into a bridge layer which was a truly amazing bit of engineering.
If, like me, you don’t have the time or skills to build a loco or traction engine, this could be the way to build something amazing.
