New MEW Digital archive – access?

We are trying to sort out this access problem.

Ignore the bit about paper copies.

This is the subscription companies standad email and will be changed.

Office is moving premises today so might not get it sorted until Monday though.

Well I subscribed to the MEW digital archive and as of now can get access to the covers at least – just need a new computer that can run the Flash player and I’m in there

It will give you lots to read while you are not in the workshop.

Plenty of errors as well, most of the editions I have looked at are not in sequence, pages all over the place.

 

Vol 108 is not complete and only has 48 pages.

Has never worked for me Keith.

 

I use the arrow buttons at the top to switch between first and last page to check how may pages  then fill in 1 to 68 [ or whatever, many of the no’s 50 to 110 issues are only 44 odd pages ? ] then selct print and wait whilst it goes thru the set.

I’d also noticed this – hopefully as time passes, and the errors get fed back the anomalies will get sorted out (hint, hint…).

 

The other thing I’d noticed was that in the issues I’ve looked at, the pull-out plans haven’t been included in the scans – issue 4 being a typical case in point. If they’re available, it would be good to include these too, I would have thought. Any chance these could be added to the relevant issues?

 

But hey, I’m not complaining too much – having done a load of heavy-duty scanning myself, I know how much of a pain it can be to organise, and to have got it all up on the site and working at all is quite an achievement. Nothing this big ever gets sorted out completely at the first go, and I’m sure that all these things can be sorted out. So, many thanks to the people that did it all, and whom I’m sure will fine-tune it too.

So, if I read this correctly, I pay for a Digital Subscription and I can access all previous copies, electronically, back to Issue 001, but if (as I have) I’ve bought MEW in hard-copy since issue 001, I can only access, electronically, the last two years worth ?

 

And here was I thinking that electronic access would save me the problem of hunting out the hard-copy from my ME and MEW archive (boxes in the loft) when I wanted to check something quickly or refer to a back issue when away from home.

 

Couldn’t you, at the very least, make access for subscribers available back as far as their original Hard-copy subscription ? (Especially if the Hard and Soft copy subscription number is the same, as it appears to be in the case of Pete L’s)

Well, that strikes me as a fault of “the system”.  With a modification, I’m sure It could be made to do it.

 

Unfortunately, when people say “We can’t do that”, they usually mean “We won’t do that”.

 

Shame.  I’ll just have to continue with retro-tech.
