      Hi all

I recently "inherited" my late father in law's garage which contains a mammoth amount of engineering tools ranging from calipers, cutters, drill chucks/attachments, measuring tools, chisels, dozens of books on engineering/lathe turning, more pliers/spanners than you could shake a stick at! etc.. etc.. the list is endless, but also includes a Zyto lathe made by S Tyzack and Son, which I'm guessing is vintage (?), a Coronet Minorette wood turning lathe and a vintage Craftsman bench drill. Some fairly crude photos are attached and I just wanted to know if there is a market for these items? More photos can be supplied if needed.

Unfortunately metal/wood engineering is not my "thing" but, rather than simply scrap them, for which my father in law would turn in his grave, I'd like to try and sell them on to a good home where they would be put to use. The tools are located in Leicestershire, post code LE8 if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Thanks in advance for any help.

      Regards

      Greg

Everything has a value. You may want to try eBay to let them find their level. There may be a local “Men in Sheds” workshop operating near you who could give some of the tools a charitable home where they would be loved and used. Contact Age Concern.

I suggest this with mixed feelings. My Tuesday morning was trying to reduce the enormous pile of duplicated tools in our local branch. There is a natural limit to the number of hammers… we stuck at 2 for each member!

We in New Zealand have something similar to "Men in Sheds" (I think), called Menz Shed, our branch, only a year old has a surplus of tools, so each Saturday morning I take a box full along to our town's Farmer's Market, where free of charge I set up a sales table to flog off some of the surplus.

I don't think we have two hammers each, there are two engineer's hammers on my work area .

You have some interesting stuff there Greg.

The Zyto lathe will be around 1950s vintage, why not put it on the Forum For Sale Ads.

Thanks guys for your help on this. It's much appreciated.

I'll try the For Sale section but also make some enquiries to try and move some of the smaller kit on to a worthy cause. If not, I know my father-in-law would rather l give the stuff away to someone who will appreciate it.
