New Member interested in Clocks

Its about time I joined as I have been lurking on this site for quite a while.

Workshop has Myford ML7 and Myford VMB mill.

Current project is the overhaul of a small fusee timepiece clock. Its ticking away on the bench with the last job to remake the broken minute hand.

I have trouble with the CAD system so will post a separate message in the correct thread.

Welcome Derek. I'm not a clockmaker but I have made a clock, if that makes any sense at all! ( an English regulator). Otherwise I'm usually working on miniature steam road vehicles.

If you have any questions you have but to ask.

It may help if you could indicate roughly whereabouts you are located.

I discovered that my grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather were all clockmakers so I decided to try to emulate them and have now made two clocks. I wouldn't describe myself as a clockmaker yet though! I have restored a couple of old clocks to working condition and am presently trying to persuade a Vienna Regulator to strike reliably.

Many thanks for the welcome.

I am located near Southampton, Hampshire, UK.

I discovered yesterday that the late father of one of our visitors was a clockmaker in Clerkenwell London.

Hope to find out more background later in the year.
