Just to introduce myself – new to this site. Retired and live in Mid Dorset. Interest in stationary steam but at moment preoccupied building D Type Jag kit car which entails learning (or trying to learn) lots of new skills.

          Hello John,

Welcome to the forum, I hope you find all the answers to your questions here.

I was always in admiration of the D type Jag, a fine piece of engineering and worthy of reproducing. I wish you well with it.

          Brian

Fibre glass body, or steel, or are you using an old body, there was a firm in NZ that was making new body pannles, much work with the English wheel.

There is a company out in the Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire Fens that specialised in making new parts for jaguar bodies. (Just remembered their name – Contour Autocraft) On a visit, they were even making side lamp bodies for the later Mark saloons. Other panels were made using English wheels. They even let us have a go at wire edging a wheel arch!

So if you need a particular panel, they could probably provide one; possibly at a cost!

They made the flame display for the opening and closing ceremonies for the last Olympics in UK, so must be pretty good!

Worth knowing Howard, thanks, although the body on mine is GRP so no need for full panels. I am going to have a go making an aluminium blister for the exhaust exit at the side of the car and if I prove incapable on that I might go for having one made. I think I have access to a GRP one to use as a pattern although these tend to vary form car to car. I did make an aluminium cover for the fuel filler (forms part of the tail fin) and that went OK, but is much less deep formed  than the exhaust blister will need to be.

I have had a mould taken off the car so can remake any panels if needs be
