      Good afternoon all.

I picked up my Warco WM180 yesterday and have set it up and cleaned it. I purchased some way oil while I was there.

However, I note there are a number of oil nipples on the machine and my question is what sort of oil should I use for those, is it OK to use the same way oil?

      Appreciate any advice.

The way oil is most likely to be a "68" grade hydraulic oil which is pretty much industry standard. That is what I use on the oiling points of my old Taiwanese lathe.

As CE6 says, but I would use a straight mineral oil, something like SAE 30 for the gear shafts. Many of those "button oilers" will be for the ways anyway. Way Oil has something in it like the "anti-fling" additive in chainsaw oil. I've always found Way Oli a little too viscous to force it's way into the shafts. Other than that, enjoy your new lathe. Have a look at "Ades Workshop" on You Tube. He uses the WM180 to great effect with some worthwhile modifications.

Hydraulic oil is good as it is generally free of additives that can stain, gum up or affect seals on machinery.

HLP32 is thinner and used for gearboxes etc. HLP68 is thicker and used for slideways etc.

Between them almost all workshop needs are met.

I know nothing, but I did come unstuck with oil and Oil-lite bushes, those sintered bronze things.

They are quite fussy. You don't want to gum them up if the oil is supposed to soak through from the outside.
