      Hi All,
My main interest is restoring vintage stationary engines, the likes used on farms for water pumps, generators etc such as Lister and Petter. I exhibit at a few vintage rallies through the year. Been collecting almost 30 years but have always had an interest in model engineering, particularly scale IC engines. Never built one from scratch but do have a couple of casting sets that may become projects in the future (Stuart Lightweight and a Bonds Simplex). I also have a notion for a scale open crank IC engine and have seen quite a few around the rally fields over the years. They do tend to fetch strong money due to popular demand and the timing has never been right !
      Best regards, David

            Welcome aboard.

The Lightweight builds up into a nice little engine, I did one last year but started from scratch rather than use castings so if you need any pointers when you come to build it just ask. There is also a member on here who has built the Simplex. And if you need any pointers regarding the open crank engines then I have quite a few under my belt as well as some enclosed crank verticals too.

Thanks for the replies. I have seen a few Lightweights on Ebay over the years, they make nice little engines. The Bonds seem a bit less common but I do have a couple of original Bonds catalogues which are interesting in their own right. I have spent many a few hours trawling the online ME indexes and it is very surprising the amount of references to 1:1 stationary engines over the years, in fact I have bought a few old back issues specifically for some of the articles. Time is fairly limited these days but I do enjoy reading the forums and researching subjects of interest. Interesting you have built a few engines Jason, I have seen various kits over the years some replicating large scale engines and others scratch built. Years ago the engines by the Alyn Foundry were particularly interesting and sometimes turn up for sale. Cheers Dave

Welcome along David. It is full size stuff for me with pre war bikes but the home shop machining floats my boat.
