Hi all, I've done this a bit arse first because I've already been asking for advice with regard to a drummond B I got recently.

I usually restore wood working machines, nearly always wadkin, which I have about 15 lumps. I like early wadkin machines and my oldest dates from 1924.

I seem to getting drawn over to the dark side, metal working machines. I have a pattern makers lathe which has a cross slide so I have been doing the odd bit on that. Problem is the tool post is 1O" tall so you get a bit deflection.

Thats why I got the little drummond, I also picked up a rough little BCA jig borer for the princely sum of £125.

Hello Mark and welcome to the Dark Side!

I think I 'll ask you to buy machines for me in future!

Any questions, you know where to ask them.

          Brian

Hi Mark, welcome to the forum, it's not the dark side you are succumbing to, but the hard side, (as opposed to the soft side). When I was working, we had a gigantic Wadkin horizontal mill, the bed must have been 8 x 5, feet that is, with a BT50 spindle.

Wadkin made some pretty high end and massive metal working machines. I've got a leaflet for a machine that has a bed measuring 3O feet.
