I don’t know if anyone else has noticed, but Arc Euro has a new piece of kit on the market.

How many of you have 321 blocks and find them very limited in use because they are not made correctly plus the fact that they are not ideal for use in a normal milling vice.

Well John Stevenson has come up with a design that solves most of the problems, the first is that they CAN bolt together to make those small angle plates or T-tops. The second and most important thing for me is that they have been thought through and made to sizes that can be easily used in a vice, a thing that the 321 blocks couldn’t really do.

I can’t wait to get delivery of mine, so that I can put them through their paces.

They look a bit flimsy fiddly and technical to me, cleaning swarf etc from them could get annoying.

No doubt they’d come in handy sometimes though

Goodness me, talk about death in an overcoat.

Condemned before they even get looked at. It’s a miracle anything ever makes it into your shop.

On the other hand, maybe it doesn’t, because if these are too technical, a nut and bolt, with a technical washer certainly will be.

Thanks for the heads-up on these 321 blocks John

I think these look really useful and will get me some – I think I can probably handle any swarf cleaning problems, and JS knows his stuff and what he is doing, so I imagine they are well thought out, well made and will be versatile (as you described) and very useful.

What a very good idea, you can build up all sorts of fancy jigging for measuring, marking and milling quickly and then take it apart for the next job. With a few strips drilled with regular pitched holes and right angle brackets all sorts of structures are quick and easy. Meccano for machinists!

                    Well done John!

Thanks for mentioning these blocks John. I’ve ordered a set of both sizes having been put off by the comments about the usual ones that are available.

Was thinking of getting some 1-2-3 blocks for Xmas

These will now go top of the list as they are cheaper than the ones I was considering and look more useful

These blocks look very useful and the price looks very reasonable.

With 1-2-3 blocks it is often handy to have two identical sets on hand just FYI, for supporting longer items.

It’s much easier to spot if you can click on a user and see all their recent posts but you cant do that in here.
I’ve got my own theories on ghosts in this place, but they shall remain as theories.

I’ve found V block small enough to fit in the vice but will likely get a set of the smaller ones to see how they go.

They look like a good idea at a reasonable price from here.

For a couple of decaded “Usual disclaimer” used to be the comment in ME meaning “I have no commercial interest in this”, it’s use became deprecated as it became something of a cliche.

Perhaps we should revive this one…

The disclaimer has always been pretty pointless in my view since how would you know the person making the claim wasn’t lying? It’s meaningless. It’s a bit like auctions that offer a certificate of authenticity signed by the seller. And ultimately, it doesn’t matter. I’m cool with people letting others know about a cool bit of gear whether they or someone else is selling it. A brief single plug is different from the untargetted spam that gets up everyone’s nose.

I agree with Chris and where do you draw the line ?

So you get the mag and because XXX has an advert in it selling YYY do you totally ignore it as commercial ?

I love these heads up off various people whether they have an axe to grind or not.
Since I have been in long trousers [ about 12 years ] I feel that I’m able to make my own mind up if that’s OK with Ower Gert.
