I spoke on the telephone to my friend Neville Evans yesterday and I was very pleased to hear that his literally lifesaving surgery had been a success and that he was well on the road to recovery . He hasn’t had many messages of support from the model engineering community and I know that a few more would cheer him up no end . He won’t visit this site any time soon so if any of you have sentiments to express put them as postings on this thread and after a  couple of days accumulation I’ll print the lot off and take them round to him in person .

      Thanks .

          Hi There
          Saturday morning 23 October.
          Just spoke to Neville.
Very tired but coping. He is thinking about his next engine.
          regards David

Please give Mr Evans my very best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I always enjoy reading his construction articles and as a self-taught model engineer have found them really useful.

On a more personal note he was very helpful to me a few years ago patiently assisting me by answering my questions about the ‘Jones Goods’, and although he is most unlikely to recall the discussion, my idea of building a simple mallet using two ‘Tich’ chassis (we are all allowed a certain amount of whimsy).

Get well soon, Mr Evans; and by-the-way, when is the long promised construction article on the 0-4-0 + 0-4-0 garrat going to appear?

Very sorry to hear Mr.Evans was sick, I had no idea or I would have written sooner. My best wishes for a speedy recovery. I very much appreciate and enjoy his build series. The designs are well thought out and practical to make. Keep them coming!

Mr. Evans, Take care in the coming days, I hope you get well and fit soon.

                Best regards Jeff Dayman

Please pass on to Mr Evans my best wishes. I’ve found his style of writing both informative and fun, indeed I’m applying several of his ideas for Fair Rosamund to my build of Metro. Looking forward (when he is ready and not before!) to his return to the pages of ME.

Hi, it’s never nice to hear of peoples illness weather you know them personally  or not. My grandfarther had about 4 or 5 heart attacks in his last few years of his life way back in 1965. I would also like best wishes for Mr Evans to be passed on.

                          Regards Nick.

Mr Evans is in the premier league, up there with the ‘greats’ of British and even world model engineering.  His design essays make instructive, informative and entertaining reading besides which he is a fellow Welshman, although, I currently live in somewhere called England.  Please wish him a speedy recovery.
