I seem to remember that at one time milk came in glass bottles with a cardboard lid, others had a tinfoil cover.

Now I read that milk must not be exposed to the light,so must be sold in cardboard containers, but yet it can still be bought in plastic 2lt containers.

Am I missing out on something here? Have I been misled for the last 80 years ? Am I in grave danger?

Or am I just listening to the usual crap ?

Apparently if you step on a crack in the pavement CERN sacrifice a unicorn – or something like that…

While I am perfectly content with the sentiment behind National Get Outdoors Day, I'm a bit confunded by one of their findings:

          • Research revealed most Brits spend the equivalent of under a week a month exploring the outdoors, with more than one in 10 saying they never get out.
          • Unpredictable British weather, travel distance and a fear of wild animals were cited as the main reasons for not hitting the countryside more often.
          • Almost three in 10 Brits say they find it difficult to be without the internet or phone signal for more than an hour, highlighting a shocking dependency on technology

Presumably this press release has been compiled by persons of independent means who have rather more leisure time than the rest of us wage-slaves…

I actually use those chunky glass kenco coffee jars that have a very thick push fit lid for holding the ol' woodscrews. They seem to be slightly over engineered for coffee.

Jars for extraneous storage, who'd of thought it.

I had this tofday, promoting vaping:

With Stoptober well and truly done with, 80% of smokers will have failed at their attempts to cut out tobacco from their lifestyles, despite the various attempts to make smoking unattractive. Worldwide, 4.5 trillion cigarette butts are thrown away each year, ruining high streets and costing local councils millions. Cigarette litter costs £3.8 million to clear in London alone and the fine for smoking related litter starts at £80, but can be as much as £2,500. With cigarettes being the world's most common litter, Vapemate, one of the UK’s leading eliquid retailers, has commissioned a nationally representative study of over 2000 UK adults to find out the worst habits of the nation, as well national sentiment towards cigarettes and e-cigarettes. If you would be interested in this research, please let me know as I would be happy to provide further information.

Please find below Vapemate’s league of the UK’s top unsavoury habits:

              1. Smoking
              2. Not flushing the toilet
              3. Picking your nose
              4. Flatulence
              5. Scratching your genitals in public
              6. Burping
              7. Biting your nails
              8. Weeing in the shower
              9. Coughing or sneezing without covering your face
              10. Not washing hands after using the toilet

Smoking leads the way as Britain’s worst habit, 55% of Brits believing it to be worse than weeing in the shower and even scratching your genitals in public. Without Stoptober's incentive, this league comes at just the right time to give a much-needed boost to strengthen the resolve of quitters. Vapemate’s latest research investigates the social attitudes towards smoking, finding conclusively that smoking really isn’t cool.

You mean fitting mag wheels, fat tires, a sub-woofer in place of the rear seat and an airfoil fin on the boot lid does not increase the value of your car?

Well that means my car is for the scrapyard laugh

Since we can assume smokers do not put smoking at the top of their list do the scratching smokers outside your office door start peeing when it rains? Maybe that's why they put a bus shelter in our car park for them which of course absolutely nobody ever uses.

Such points are (IMO) best made by graffiti e,g. a poster in a hospital paediatric ward " The first 3 minutes of life are highly dangerous!!" to which had been added, freehand, " the last 3 are a bit tricky, too!!"

How about starting a movement based on this list called 'Stop it June'.

It depends on what June is doing at the time

                                                    I will get my coat

Thanks Sean, I wondered if anyone would be drawn to the bait. I will name my next fly tying creation June in your honour.

You have been played out and drawn safely into the landing net! Nothing better on a wet and gloomy winters day than casting a fly to grayling from the comfort of the workshop. 😀

Must get get back to the lathe now.
