        G'day all.

Having (fleetingly) rummaged through the recesses of what is (laughingly ) called my workshop, I found a Naerok 3-wheel bandsaw and disc sander. Useful bit of kit but checking it over shows the 'tyres' on two of the wheels to be breaking away. I had considered trying to glue on rubber replacements but memory says these things should be 'crowned' to keep the blade running true. Can anyone suggest either a source for replacements or a (hopefully simple) remedy, please?

        Rgds

Machine Mart sell the same bandsaw and spares are available from them. Unless my memory is playing tricks on me I think I had to replace the 'tyres' on my Naerok bandsaw. No need for 'crowning'.

Just checked the Spring/Summer 2012 Machine Mart catalogue that they sent me and I can't see an illustration of the bandsaw (might be a short-form cat.). However on page 127 they refer to the blades for the CBS 355 which I think is the bandsaw number (355 refers to 355mm or 14" throat.) Parts 'phone no. 0871 410 1270 or 'parts@machinemart.co.uk

I have an (old) German made 2-wheel bandsaw, which had what seemed to be hard plastic or nylon tyres. They were also breaking away, and where I live, there was no chance of easily shopping for replacement parts. After lots of experiments, I eventually ended up with tyres glued in place, made from hard leather. I thought this would be only a short term solution for the immediate job in hand, expecting the slight offset on the blade teeth to simply rip the leather up. However, they have now been in fairly heavy use for about a year, (Been building a sailing dinghy with it) and although showing signs of 'cutting up', they are still 'good to go' for a while yet (and I have half a cowhide to replace them when they do! smiley).

The original tyres did have a slight 'dome', and I had no way to replicate this with the leather tyres, but they work anyway, so I agree with Chris about that. I suspect the blade is sinking into the leather slightly, so they are acting a bit like pulleys with rims. It was cheap – I picked up the hide for next to nothing on our local market, and used impact adhesive to secure it.

I have one of these and yes it is a good machine.

Dont worry about crowning the belt as it is built into the pully.

I did get spares and I know they were easy to get at the time ( 4 years ago ) but I can not remember who from sorry.

Burgess, Axminster, Machine Mart, Charnwood all spring to mind.

Most likely is machine mart as Chris has said.

                          regards Clive

I emailed Clarke Spares a few months ago and got no reply. Let us know how you get on.

Thank you Clive and, particularly, Bazyle.

The Clarke version is a straight clone of the Naerok and your ref. gives a manual with component listing and diagrams. It also provides Tel. contact details. Just tried that number and they are closed on Saturdays but will try again on Monday. From the manual write-up, it would seem that tyres are avaiable and recommended to refit in threes.

I'll let you know what happens.

Just an update – got an email reply first thing this morning!! (very impressive!) Telephoned them this afternoon and it appears that they have had 'tyres' on back order since January and will advise when available. They also have a mix of blades available. Don't know whether I shall be successful but full marks to their service for helpful responses … no connection etc. , of course.

                                    Just an update on this.

'Phone call this morning from Clarke International – took me a while to work out who they were! Tyres and blades now in stock and would I like to complete my order!!! Extraordinary service and (from years of British 'service' experience), totally unexpected. Full marks to the C I service department especially considering that this wasn't a large cost bundle. Thoroughly recommended

I must admit I have found Machine Mart's spare's service to be alarmingly helpful. I am not sure if they are directly related to Clarke or not? You could be forgiven for gaining teh impression Clarke are their 'own brand' (well badged chinese stuff mostly) but then a few oter places sell Clarke?
