I bought a box of part finished Quorn Mk2 castings etc and found this item in the box.

I can’t find any details of this in the Quorn book or any online resource.

It appears to have been made from a casting, either Bronze or GunMetal.

Can anyone elighten me as to its use, it may not even be associated with the Quorn.

        thanks

The general shape looks like a ball turning tool

Could it be a tool to adjust the cutter in a between centres boring bar?

Yes I agree with Roger, it is a between centres boring bar tool adjuster, it looks identical to the Hemingway kit version. See: http://www.hemingwaykits.com/acatalog/info_HK%201020.html

                Hi Chris and Roger,

Yep, I think you’ve solved the mystery, I really couldn’t see how it could be partof the Quorn.
Off to the workshop now to make the boring bar to go with it
                cheers all

What is the bore of the hole in the boss of the part? My guess is that if it is 1.25″ (the pillar that holds the motor and grinder spindle), It (might) fit under the power head, the long screw would fit in the spiral groove, the small screwto lock on the outer dia of the pillar. the longer bolt would be on the bottom side. Don’t really know, I’v only got page three of the 1975 drawings (of three pages), I had a look but the nut arraingment is not on that page. Ian S C  Having now looked at Chris’s indicated site, I tend to agree with the between center boring bar idea.
