      Hi all,

does anyone know where I can get a Gib strip for a Myford VMF or VME Mill ?.

I think the VM-F and VM-E use the same Gibs on all ways, I’m particularly looking for a Gib for the Table or ‘X’ axis.

I’ve tried everywhere that I know including the Warco equivalent from Warco,

      Thank you

      Tony

        Hi Tony

Have you tried the Myford Lathes group ? Someone on there may be able to help.   https://groups.io/g/myfordlathes

..FWIW – don’t know whether the Chester ‘830 VS’ mills are a direct dimensional copy but they certainly appear to owe something of their make-up to the VME – and they are a still-current model.

It should be possible to make one with a length of BMS if it’s an ordinary gib strip. If you can’t use the mill it could be filed ? Noel.

Thank you Noel, I have already made the column gib and I have a Cast Iron gib that I can modify for the table but I was looking for a direct replacement in case it goes wrong. Its a tapered gib so I machine that with a sine table on my Downham Jig Borer, the only tricky bit is the travel on the Downham restricts the length I can machine, so I’ll have to do it in two halves. Thanks for the suggestion thou.

Thank you, I’ll give Chester a call tomorrow
