Does anyone have experience of how to get at the insides of the rear of the tailstock? This tailstock has a metal-on-metal rough feel when moving the barrel feed and I suspect the Thrust Bearing has gone or something around that piece. I would like to get in and make up a replacement of whatever part is worn. The Feedscrew does not want to come out completely from the front barrel end but remains captive for some reason (after removing woodruff key). The Myford exploded parts diagram would lead one to believe the rear Cap simply unscrews so as to pull it out from the rear, but mine is not of a mind to budge at all! Any suggestions? Thanks, Adam

          Hello.

          Should just unscrew..

looking from the back, use a small bar as a leaver in the hole just right from the oil nipple and turn.

It does not just unscrew despite some force! Is the thread in opposite direction to normal?

Thanks – I have persevered with a modified hole that takes the Myfordc C Spanner and it has done the trick! Thanks for the encouragement John and Brian.l
