Here is a message to owners of late Myford lathes with power cross feed that have the saddle lock at the front of the saddle.  (Myford moved it from the back to make space for Newall DRO heads.)

I recently removed the saddle to drill for a DRO.  I noticed that the screw for the saddle lock was bottoming out on the apron casting.  I shortened the screw by two threads after which the clamp worked much better.

I checked a second machine and found the same issue so I think the problem might be widespread.  The screw is hardened so I shortened it by grinding.
