Myford polyvee drive

I am thinking about converting my Myford Super 7 to polyvee headstock drive using the Hemingway kit, has anyone done this? does it smooth out the drive and make it easier to speed change?

Well the new Myfords use poly-vee belts from new, so there must be some advantage.

Don’t know the Myford lathes very well,but with polyvee belts you get better power transfer,longer belt life,and you proberbly will fit in another ratio ie., more pullies. The belts can be used on smaller dia the a V belt,and it should be smoother running.Sorry this is not from personal use,I coverted to link belts on my lathe,still use V belts on the mill.On the mill, the belt from the motor to the jack shaft is one of those automotive V belts with notches in the inside of the belt.Original belt, about 5 yrs life, the new one has been there 20yrs no sign of wear.I think the polyvee belts will just about see the Myford for as long as you’ll need it,regardless of your age.Ian S C
