Pages of the last three model engineer magazine that I have received have fallen apart. Has the paper been changed that they are printed on? I have never had this problem before!

I had the middle page fall out of issue no.4556 as I opened it. Haven't managed to get round to 4557 and 4558 yet.

I've had a couple of ctr folds come loose recently and I don't look at the paper mag that much haveing flicked through it online beforehand.

I had the middle page of MEW 253 fall out – the staples had cut through the paper. I think the stapling mechanism needs adjusting.

Could be a sneaky method by the subscriptions department to get us to buy the binders which use a thin steel rod to hold the mag in place so even if the stitching wire (not known as staples in the trade) has cut through you won't loose a page.

The paper does change from time to time, can't say I have lost any pages though (just as well, I read ME in the bath).

The middle pages (plan) of 253 weren't stapled in.

It was the actual middle pages (nos. 33-36) that fell out.

There is no doubt in my mind, the quality of the cover is better, much thicker but the pages are so much thinner, not good for long life or repeated use. Throw away age I am afraid. Somebody somewhere has no doubt been given a golden bean for saving a penny or two in the production of each copy.

When my last ME arrived, I was flicking through it, and though the pages seemed thinner, but I have never(so far) had any fall out.

We changed stock for MEW 253, but both 253 and 252 were on 60GSM paper (Grapholux 60 gsm to Innosem 60 gsm, if you really must know!)

It appears I need to "make a small number of forum posts" before I can respond to a classified ad (about old ME mags), despite having been registered with this forum for a good many years, and posted a couple of posts in 2014. So this is just one of my "small number".

I used to make envelopes in a previous life and what paper you ran always determined if the machine would run or not, they were and still are I suspect very sensitive, as are print presses
