One of the few things I retain from 40 years in BR Rail Research was that for wheels on solid axles the design interference was one-and-a quarter thou per inch of diameter.This was enshrined in British Rail Technical Note T72.

Apologies for taking so long to reply, I'm afraid I drifted off somewhat. Thanks to those who gave the info above. I am still continuing with the build… Been finding it too cold in the outside shed lately so I'm in the process of moving my kit indoors (and changing some of it). Must admit I've not logged in here for ages (looks like about 6 months from the posting dates) – just started looking in again recently. Hope to be working on making a new bench for inside over the coming days, not sure how long before it'll be up and running, may have to wait on some new kit as well. I'll post here and see if anyone still wants to follow when I get going again…(Updating from where I left off..)

Martin, I did offer to replace the photo's in the Victoria thread but needed (I'm guessing) a higher level of access / permissions to do the edit. Don't think I had a reply back – understandable though that it may not have been possible to grant that kind of access. Still happy to do it if there's ever a change of mind…

Wouldn't dream of asking anyone else to do the pics as it was my own fault they got deleted – and it would take quite a while to do @ about 400 or so I think… No probs though.

It might be an enormous task to get the right pictures back on the right messages. Your albums are either blank or not public, would it be possible to put the Victoria pictures in a public album more or less in order? That woudl nmake it reasonably easy for people to follow if they have two tabs (thread and album) open at once. I realise it could be a marathon of uploading…

I think they can be got back with very little effort, Allan if you want me to have a go just say as I think its just a tick in the right box to make them public again, they are all still on the system. They all still have the original URL so will come back into the victoria thread where they originally were.

Jason it would be great to have the pics back in the thread and it may help other first time builders to avoid the mistakes that I made and also benefit from all the help I received. When I look into the Victoria Album I can only see two photo's but I don't mind reloading them all if need be, I can do it bit by bit, all the photo's are in numerical order rather than by description which makes it straightforward. If however you can still see them all with your level of access and it's not too big a job then yes please (just say of course if you do find that you need me to reload them back into the album first). Don't go to too much trouble of course, they will just have to stay lost if its a big hassle – saying thank you just doesn't seem to cover it somehow…

Cheers for now, picked up some wood yesterday and going to start work on the new bench today..

No it won't do it, I was looking at teh No1 rather than the victoria.

If you could load say the first 10 photos to your victoria album then I can see how easily they could be restored to the thread.
