I have joined on behalf of my father 87 year old father. He has two projects he is keen to complete. A clock and a beam engine. He completed the clock in 2000 using plans from a 1999 issue of ME magazine. He has misplaced the plans and broken a piece of the clock mechanism. The beam engine was started maybe 20 years ago and was not far from completion to the best of my recollection in 2007 when he moved house. The engine then had to be mothballed due to his duties as carer for my mother. We need a copy of the plans for the clock and possibly help getting kick started again with the engine. We are in Chelmsford. Any suggestions?

          Hello Patty,

Is this the John Wilding clock that started off as an 'egg timer' design then got upgraded with a 'daisy wheel' motion – the flower-like wheel in the middle should be obvious if it is.

If you put photos of the clock and engine into a folder that will help us identify them.

          Neil

              .

Having seen the photos … it looks like the 3/4 second electro-mechanical clock

See Tony Jeffree's page **LINK** for some useful notes.
