      Hi all,

I have a M&W Telescopic Bore gauge, 12.7 -19mm, and I have lost the spring out of it (don't ask) incredibly, M&W do not supply spares! A tool that they produce, but cannot supply a spare for seems mad to me, but has anyone any ideas where I may get one?

      Thanks,

      Colin

Obvious place is a spring manufacturers catalogue, try googling spring manufacturers, or buy some spring wire and wind your own.

Thanks, it is a tiny, long, powerful spring and I doubt I'll find one.

Flexo Springs stock a wide range that can be ordered online:

If you can think of the wire gauge size, then you can make one by wrapping the spring wire/Piano wire , around a drill bit shank and make your own spring. If you have the next size up gauge, take it apart to see what the gauge and diameter of that spring is. You will find that they are not really that difficult to make once you get the hang of making springs.

I have bought springs on ebay, there is an astounding range for sale.

If they are still trading, you could try Vincent Springs in Peterborough, UK.

Just checked their website, and they are actually in Ramsey

Tell them what you want, and they will probably make one for you

(The other gauges probably use the same spring, so you should be able to measure:

Free length, Wire diameter and Number of coils, which should help to get a suitable spring. )

Thank you all for the feedback, I will investigate!

                      Cheers,

Heresy perhaps, but it might be cheaper to buy a cheap Chinese set and try out the spring from that. If it doesn't fit you could sell it on or have a second-best set.

Thank you to all those who helped with suggestions. Unbelievable as it sounds, I have found the spring! It was on the other side of the garage laying on the floor, and it is something of a miracle to have found it.

                          Cheers everyone,

                          Colin
