          .

I have and recommend the multifix style from these guys in 'Das Fatherland' **LINK**

I tad more expensive (but not much) than the far east versions but an excellent product.

I have the Aa from Create that I purchased direct just factor in customs clearance of about £25.

Will take a 10mm replaceable tipped tool and be on centre as a guide.

They will do a deal for kit and more holders sometimes.

I think the Rotagrip ones are the Create.

              edit correct RDG to Rotagrip

The beer vouchers have started to pile up again so I may finally buy a set of A sized (next size up) for my Bantam from Create. For a full set of post and 9 various holders, that's going to come in at around $462 (US) including carriage. Even allowing for £40 or so of customs that's going to be about £370. Works out quite a bit cheaper than the European ones which are mostly Chinese anyway, yet the Create system seems to be well reviewed. Funnily enough, they wouldn't give me a better price if I bought them in China.

The weird guy from PeWe Tools (Chinese made, although I think he was trying to gloss that bit over) charges more for sets than individual tool holders and wouldn't even level the prices for a large sale so I made my excuses and left. I don't know what he was drinking – strange way to do business but what would I know.

                The Create quotation:

Having used Multifix for 25 years of working I cannot praise the system too much. It always did everything that was needed. Tools can be left in the block and go straight onto the holder and be used without any adjustment for height needed. Just buy the one that suits your machine and buy extra holders as needed.

I have recently purchased a complete Multifix set in size A plus an additional five more AD 2090 holders directly from Create in China and the complete order came to just over £300 and then I just had to pay £22 customs duty at the door when it was being delivered.

The only problem I had was what I thought was some surface rust on the tube spanner assembly so reported it to Create and they immediately sent me a free of charge replacement. The rust was a actually only an oily stain which came fully off so now I have two such tube spanners, which is always handy.

I would certainly recommend Create as a supplier and have no affiliation to them other than being a very satisfied customer.

Steve, the center post hole is 13mm diameter so you will need a sleeve to fit the tool post correctly.

I have an original Multifix Toolholder attached to my Myford S7 with 3 holders at the moment. I am considering purchasing a further two holders from EU and China suppliers but am in doubt as to the compatability of other manufacturers holders to fit to the Multifix column giving the rigidity of the original toolpost.

Has any of our brethren bought any of the toolholders, if so, what was the fit and performance of the copied parts.

                          Many thanks.

Some people install a new one on the front.

Someone did a design which was installed on an extended stud on the thread index.

                              Will try to find it.

                                Terry,

I don't know about the smaller types, but the two Colchester 2500's I use at work, are fitted with one Genuine Swiss Multifix toolpost including 5 genuine holders and one copy toolpost, with 5 copy holders. The holders swap around between the two without any problem.

                                Nick.

With respect to the saddle clamp, a chap calling himself staffordshirechina posted this picture in another forum showing his solution for re-positioning the saddle clamp after DRO installation which appealed to me.

                                    Simillar to my solution:-

Just made a spacer and longer stud, to mount the Indicator.

See what you've done now. I finally ordered my A sized set (Bantam etc) from Create on Tuesday last week and they arrived yesterday – 6 days door to door via DHL (from Hong Kong). The price had gone up slightly but the carriage had gone down almost by the same amount, so price was almost unchanged at $468 / £339 plus £21 duty.

I have no means of actually trying them out in my armchair workshop but they certainly look well made. For now I'll have to make do with taking them out occasionally and giving them a good rub and a polish.

Steady on there, you might release the workshop genie, and he'll be mighty upset if he finds the workshop isn't finished!

Can't you get the paperwork from DHL website using the job number? Not done it myself as I can't claim for this. I had to reimburse them for the duty/VAT but I've no need for the paperwork myself.

                                                      Hi All

Have been using the MULTIFIX For a few months now VERY impressed with this tooling system have now ordered extra tool holders

                                                      THANKS for your advise

Steve, thinking of going the same way. Can you confirm that the Aa was right size for an S7?

                                                      Cheers, Colin
