I have inherited a Moore & Wright No: 282 Automatic centre punch. (It’s the one with a spherical end.)

I appreciate that turning the spherical part will adjust the force with which the point marks the workpiece but I’m worried about turning it beyond the range and breaking it.

Does anybody have a copy of the Instruction for this tool please?

        Very many thanks in anticipation.

I doubt that you will break it. if it's built like the Eclipse, it will have a slipping clutch.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Surely somebody must have a Instruction Leaflet that he or she could photocopy for me?

            With best wishes and thanks

I can send you a scan of the catalogue page with instructions and cutaway drawing for M&W 282.

PM me your email if interested.

                Hi

If you overtighten the adjustment the punch will not cock it properly and will not work.

                    Do you have one?

I assume that turning Clockwise will tighten it but if I turn Anticlockwise, will it spring apart?

                    With best wishes and thanks

                    MC
