        I thought all engineering was BINARY – either it fits or it dosen't. Either it works or it doesn't !

          I still use the "Firkin" as a unit of measure.

          It is very simple to use as its either two firkin long or two firkin short.

            You are right Michael. If they had agreed 1"=2.56 mm what a happy world it would be.

            Instead we are left with Phil's binary system.
