Please guys can you please just stop this or, if you must, continue it in private. This is a great site and a source of much useful information and help. All this is devalued by this public display of disagreement.

 

 

Gets my vote too – just calm it down a bit, chaps, and agree to disagree if you must.

 

As far as the surveys go, I’ve tried to provide constructive comments, not dismissive ones, and only opinions where I can reasonably justify them. I’ve also said all along that I don’t know the answers – but I do have a reasonable handle on how to find them out. And that’s all.

Rod – We take your point but our policy is to let the forum be – unless it becomes abusive and/or personal. Be assured it is being watched very carefully. This thread is not distracting right minded people from the useful and helpful threads presently running elsewhere – so far.

 

Mike76 – you have a valid point but I don’t think it is the hobby as such. To some people this forum evidently is their life! You only have to count the number of postings they make in the course of a ‘working’ day. What does that tell you? Don’t you find that all forums are the same though? I hope you can make use of the other, far more useful threads elsewhere. Those are the threads for which it really exists. This is one of those that gives a platform to those you describe very well – to show their true colours, don’t you think?

I don’t think that it is the hobby that is at fault as there are many other engineering forums that don’t seem to have this kind of problem. Various acrimonious postings have already driven away some very good engineers with years of experience and a great willingness to help others who may or may not be starting out.

 

I agree these and other ill mannered postings degrade this site and can discourage new comers from contributing also I feel that it degrades the value of any other postings made by these contributors. As is often the case the nature of the comment tells one more about the character of the person than the subject they are commenting about.

 

I would like to see this forum get back to engineering be it workshop, models or whatever provided it is related to engineering. It should be remembered that nobody nor any publication can please all the folk all the time. If the survey is poorly constructed then raise the issue possibly with constructive comments. However if only a few surveys are returned then that is down to the apathy of the readers.

 

It would be a good time to stop this now and get back to what we are as a collective group of are good at ENGINEERING both experienced and as in my case aged and just starting out but having fun.

Hi There

Absolutly nothing to do with your not writing the handwheel up.

I had forgotton all about it and did not even remember it was you that had made it.

I am closing this thread as people are getting fed up with it.

This is a site for engineers and model engineers to help each other.

lets keep it this way.
