Hi, I am building/completing a 3 cyl. radial engine for which I need to make a model engine carburettor, all I need is a design!

Anyone out there know where I can find designs for carburettors for model engines? Would rather build my own than buy in a ready-made.

What sort of bore and stroke? assume liquid fuel and not propane?

Bore and stroke is 24mm x 30mm – and yes, liquid fuel not propane, am going to run on glowplugs! So fuel/oil mix will be sucked via crankcase.

Pic looks good, what is carb is it?

That's neat Jason. I'm still pondering the carburetter castings for the Seal. Flicked the main body out of the lathe just the other day. Didn't do the manifold flange a lot of good. Have you any tips on aluminium turning?

Earlier I was trying out my new boring head on the mill. Worked a treat, quite an addictive process. My only complaint was that the cutting tool kept growing an aluminium toe/bur which could but due to cleaning regime didn't mar the cut.

Jason I can't cool parts on the mill (no catchment for liquid yet), so some sort of cutting gunk????

Chuck Fellows has a nice simple design that seems to work nicely on his engines. PDF available here .

Many people advise brushing on paraffin or spraying with WD50, personally I just brush on some neatcut and it seems to work fine on aluminium alloys.

Might be a bit small for your 40cc, thats the Nemett which is for 15cc but will stretch a bit further. Suppose it could be scaled up by 1.6 which would give 2.5 times the area on the barrel.

I'll have a look to see if I have anything suitable in the 40cc range.

Edit, as Neil says Paraffin (Kerosene) and a small brush works well to stop tip buildup

Jason, be much obliged if you have anything for a 40cc, but perhaps the Nemett one may be OK if it's for 15cc, the 3 cyls will not be all sucking at once, continuously maybe sucking on the carb instead of intermittently, makes a difference that. Are there drawings available for the Nemett carb?

Neil, Jason thanks again. I had dug out some ordinary grease but something told me to ask.

I love this web site, I might have to take out subscription considering the money I'm saving on broken tools etc.
