      Except that that one was the origonal, built by the inventor, some one might like to work out the system of valves, and a model could be built. It is of course an etching, not a photograph, so it may not be exact.

          Correct, and that is my intention. Watch hairsprings seem to readily available online. However, one might as well start by minimising backlash in the mechanism. While the spring should take it out, it will be be affected by vibration. One doesn't really want the needle bouncing around if the road is a bit rough.
