Mini Mill Switch Controller Help Please

Bought the below Mini Mill around 18 years or so ago and its been problem free except for stripping the plastic gears which I replaced with aftermarket metal ones.

Just recently I have had to turn the on and off switch multiple times to get the motor to start to turn. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem which I gather is something to do with the electronic controller in the box with the switch on it?
