Mini Butane Hot Air Guns

Some time ago on a different thread I mentioned a butane hot air gun I’ve had for 20+ years made by Nimrod, which is now discontinued.
The update is branded Iroda and available from CPC as per the link in my previous post; photo shown further up that thread with the micrometers

I didn’t order one at the time, but had a hard drive fail on my NAS, so just replaced it and added a got air gun to the order, as postage would now be free.
I works just as well as my old one, and worth considering if you’re putting an order into CPC for something else

That’s pretty neat.  I’ll have to look for one here in the States.  I have a butane-powered soldering iron, which I’ve used, and it has a “hot air” nozzle attachment but I could never get that part to work.

I used this for bending the working end of crochet hooks.  Red heat on those – but not really required for heat shrinking!  I think I also use the standard cheapo gas cooker lighter, the yellow flame being quite adequate – if I can find it!

I used to have a lidl chef’s version of this type of gas torch (but refillable from a separate liquid gas filler  – until it got stolen.  That was mostly used for lighting my beekeeping smoker.

My last heat shrinking was shrunk using the back end of my soldering iron.

While that gas torch may well be good, I just think that there are plenty of alternatives out there.

I use heat shrink from time to time but I have a heat gun. What I did buy many years ago is a mini blow torch, the type often sold to Chefs. It’s come in very handy for small jobs.

Do you have a link please?
The only Draper one I saw, with a quick search, is £30+ ex vat
There are various others from a variety of manufacturers, but many are naked flame, just like the chef’s blowlamps or windproof cigarette lighters.
My initial post refers to a catalyst hot air torch, similar to the add-on sometimes supplied with gas soldering irons.

Sorry but dont have a link I bought it for my son at Christmas and he thinks its the dogs. It appears that draper no longer do it but identical ones on Farnells and Amazon for less than £20!
