181 has part 2 of an article by Davis Graves on a digital angle readout but part 1 was not in 180- could some kind soul point me at where it is please. I’d like to find out more details of the encoder used and what the source was..

          Hi Nigel,
Part 1 of the article was in issue 179 but it does not give details of the source of the encoder or the code to run in the the “Arduino” micro controller which is used to display the angle. It mainly gives details of making a new topslide with space to mount the encoder. The author suggests contacting him directly for further details but does not give an email address to do so.
          Les.

I guess part 3 may have the rest of the info we are looking for as part 2 ends in ‘to be continued’
It would be useful to know which ‘chinese’ lathe this is aimed at.

              Hi There
              Any laathe will do.
Does not need to be a specific lathe.
              regards David

                Les,

                Thank you.

I too now hope that part 3 has some info on the encoder etc.

David, When you have to carry an article on non-continuously would it be a good idea to put “continued from issue xxx” at the start of the article for saps like me please?

                Regards

Gets my vote too. Much easier to grab the relevant issues in a couple of years’ time then.

Usually we do but occasionally we forget.

Don’t worry about it David you will find that, as you get older, usually you will forget but occasionally you may remember !
                      Hmmm — I think that’s right…………
