Note that the diagram in the picture with height is not quite the same as the ME article which has a bell and another finial on top of that.
Rather strange coincidence but yesterday one of the St Albans club members had posted a picture of the finials he had just completed for this clock on our club whatsapp. Didn’t notice until an hour ago.
As explained in the other thread I was offered a part built one from a deceased clock maker, he died some time ago, but his widow has only just found some more boxes of stuff as she prepares to move house. In with it is what I think is a grandfather clock movement, but I’m very new to this mechanical clock business. Anyone recognise it? It looks completely new. The weigh is very heavy
It’s similar, but I found a posting from Nov 21 which shows Wilding clock. It has a lantern pinion driven off the wheel on the barrel, and the wheel on that shaft is next to the pinion. In mine I have a “proper” pinion, and the wheel is at the other end of the shaft. Thanks anyway
Hi. I’m a little late for this discussion, I have all of the articles of “Making a Striking Lantern Clock” by J.M. Wild from the 1975 Model Engineer magazine. Email me at hnclad64@gmail.com. if you still need this.
