Making steel channel

Hi all, I need to make 2 pices of mild steel channel 44x25x4x300mm long if I machine it from 25x50mm bright flat will I end up with a twisted mess?

Very probably.

I think it would need some Stress-Relief first … a night in the embers of a fire might help.

Cut down two bits of angle and weld them into a U. If you like making swarf then get black flat bar as its less likely to move. I have used this e-bay seller a few times for black bar and angle, also does 50x25x5 chanel if you could get away with 48mm x 24 x 4 after a skim

Thanks for the replies just as I thought a mangled mess! Will have a look at that supplier Jason. If all fails I will try black bar.
