Well, I've got both magazine subscriptions (ME is almost up for renewal, and MEW is a recent subscription) and the driving reason for taking out the subscription was to access the magazine archives online.

The only thing is that they don't work – I've been around the houses before with the ME subscription, and it has never been solved.

More recently, with the new MEW subscription I got the welcome email with subscriber number and instructions which I followed, but no cigar. I still get stuck when I click on the magazine link asking for me to enter my subscriber number in the profile (which I already did).

Anyway, to add insult to injury, I've contacted the mytime media support 2 or three times, and all they do is resend me the same welcome email. I'm not even sure they are reading my mails.

I may well just be doing something dumb, but I am having a hard time figuring out what I've missed. The welcome email says to click on the "Online Archive" link, which I cannot see anywhere on the website – I'm assuming it has been replaced with the "Magazines" link in the green bar which shows when you are logged in.

Has anyone else had anything similar?

        Thanks,

        Matt

I have Digital subscriptions to both ME and MEW and have no problems.

I assume that your subscriptions are DIGITAL, in my case the Subscriber number is the same for both Magazines and is 8 digits long. (I had to drop off the 2 leading zero's)

I assume that the email address you gave when subscribing is the same that you sign onto the site as — The email address and subscriber number are checked.

Other than that . I can't offer anything else. (I do agree that the subscription department is as much use as a chocolate teapot)

            Dave,

I have print + digital, and my subscriber number is longer than 8 digits – it’s 10. I checked the email.addresses, and they are the same too.

Do you see the magazine archives under the “Magazines” link on the green menu bar.

            Thanks,
            Matt

My subscriber number (when I had one) was 10 digits long too – but the first two digits were both zero which, as Dave says, you have to drop when entering the number.

Pretty daft-seeming really. If they don't want you to use the zeros, why include them in the number they give you? It's caused more confusion than enough over the years. Or failing that, why not write the software to ignore leading zeros, if they exist in the entry, and then it doesn't matter whether the subscriber enters them or not? (I have at least two other memberships elsewhere that do the same thing as this site).

As far as I recall when I had a subscription, the "Magazines" link takes you to all the magazines (the current mag and the archive of past mags). The only selection involved is choosing ME or MEW. I think perhaps the "Online Archive" terminology in the welcome email pre-dates the site update that happened some months ago.

                Bander,

My ID starts 10nnnnnnnn, and I’ve tried stripping the first two digits off, but no joy

Thanks for the insight on how it should work though.

Matt, did you try what I suggested the last time you asked about your access problems, see last post in this thread

If its is Beech on your lable them check it's not been spelt Beach. You can still use Matt as your user name here but your actual details need to be correct.

The software checks the details you enter here with the database which amoung other things prints the lable so if there is any slight difference you won't get access.

I had a little difficulty getting access to the subscriptions using Google Chrome on Windoze 8.

Changing back to W7 and Firefox cured all.

No problems on W7 and IE either.

I access the archive through the EXTRA link and the black bar. then scroll to the bottom of the page.

Its not a problem with the browser, I can't view the mags if I login as Matt but fine when logged in as myself.

I suspect the problem is that "Matt C Beech" is not his actual name though it ha sbeen entered in his details rather than as a username but the subscription is taken out in his real name hence the problems. May also be a different e-mail address used.

It seems it was a surname issue.

Users who don't want their real surname used in public can keep their profile private so only site admins can see it, but the one on the profile needs to match the one on the subscription as that's part of the validation process.

The only selection involved is choosing ME or MEW.
