A long time back I machined the crankshaft for a 360 cc flat six.

In order to minimise deflection and chatter while machining the various journals I filled the gaps between the webs of previously machined journals with polyester resin by masking off most of the gap and leaving just a small hole through which the resin is poured. When finished drop the crank into a tank of Acetone to dissolve the resin.

For the crank for the Whittle V8, I made some slotted tubes to slip over the crank and used jubilee clips to tighten them up.
